Pagemaps Contest Entry

It has been an embarrassingly long time since I've blogged, so we won't even talk about it!  Moving right along...

As usual, I was checking out some of my favorite blogs, and I came across yet another contest from Pagemaps.  I will take this opportunity to reiterate how much I love these sketches.  They are so versatile and easy to use, I just can't stop!  I have purchased both of Becky Fleck's Pagemaps books, and I also keep a binder full of the free monthly downloads from pagemaps.com.  If that wasn't enough, I now obsessively follow the blog at pagemaps.blogspot.com to get even more ideas!

It spoke to me.  I don't know if it was the layout, the pretty fall accents pictured, or just the right day/time to catch my eye, but I loved it.  I started thinking about what I could create with it, and I decided on a farm layout.  My sister and I recently were looking at some old family photos of our mom's, and we both commented on a couple of our grandfather on his farm.  Combine those pics with Moxxie's new release called "Farm Livin'," then add in the sketch...well, it was meant to be!  Here's what I came up with for my entry:

Aren't those pictures the best?! We are pretty sure that they were taken by my grandmother, Phyllis.  To get that fabulous shot of him with the cornfields behind him, she must have been sitting on the top of the tractor.  Priceless.  I thought the Farm Life papers and embellishments complimented the pictures, and it went together really easily.  I added several different kinds of twine, did a lot of distressing to the papers and stickers, and included lots of my favorite inks from Quick Quotes!

What Goes Around, Comes Around!

Most of you know I participated in a really fun Layout Competition on a site called The Studio but was not one of the three winners. :(. If I had won, I would get to design layouts using kits from their store. At the same time my competition was going on they were also having a "Next Designer Competition" These are designers of digital scrapbooking products that were competing for a chance to sell their designs in the store at The Studio. There were two that I was rooting for and both of them, plus one other won the contest. Yay!

Vickilyn, from Paper Capers Designs was one that I loved and the other was Rachel from Pretty in Green.

I was browsing the forum at The Studio the other day and noticed a call for the Creative Team for Paper Capers Designs. Naturally I was interested but I was supposed to have my application in by October 1. I decided to email Vicki and ask her if she was still taking apps and gave links to all the places she could find my layout designs. She emailed me right back and took me on her creative team. She said she loved my layouts I had done for the competition.

So, I am now creating layouts for her who has a store at The Studio.
So...what goes around...comes around! I love it.

Has it really been that long?.....

Geez, it has been a while since our last post. That is just inexcusable. Please excuse us. LOL! I guess we have been doing other crafty things. But, I am back in the groove. Peggy is still getting settled into her new job so...I am not sure what her blogging schedule will be.

Anyway, one of the things we worked on was our Micheggy Halloween Projects Class. It was really a lot of fun and except for one project "mishap" everything turned out great. I have some fun pics that I took below.

Ideas and Inspiration

A company that I've been familiar with for a long time, SRM Stickers, has been having some great posts lately totally inspiring me to scrapbook and make cards!  I've liked their page on Facebook, and I encourage you to do the same.  SRM Stickers Check them out and get a little inspiration for yourself!  Here are a couple that caught my eye:

 These adorable projects are made not with stamps, but with the SRM Stickers!  I think they're really cute and quite cost effective. 

In addition to the fabulous inspiration, they are running a contest on their blog.  They are asking their FB fans to refer people to their blog and let them know who referred them.  The winner gets a prize pack.  :)  So...if you're feeling generous with your time, or your curious to see more inspiring projects, head on over to their blog SRM Stickers Blog, check out their projects, and leave a comment telling them, "Peggy Stolley sent me." I Have Been Busy

Well this weekend was pretty busy for my scrapbooking. First is another Pencil Lines Sketch that you can participate in too. Connie creates a wonderful sketch then you use it to design your own page. It takes the "hard" part out of scrapbooking which is deciding how your page should look.

So here is this week's sketch

I made the other side of my Blue Bunny Ice Cream store visit. The first page I did was for the Page Maps Challenge.

I am trying to earn a place on The Digital Scrapbooking Studio Creative Team by entering their month long competition called Layout Artist Competition 2011. I made it through the first round with the layout shown below. After I signed up they gave me a download to get the kit. Everyone used the same kit. So, you had to be in the top 40 to move on and I even made it in the top ten....barely! So, thanks so much if you voted.





















The kit we used was Early Morning Light from Piggy Scraps Designs.

The second round layout needed to be uploaded to the gallery by midnight tonight (Sunday) and the voting starts tomorrow. Here is my layout.




















This time the kit we used is called Afternoon Delight by JW Digiscraps. It was a fun kit but when you do a lot of boys pages it is hard to use a lot of flowers. I hope I made it work. You can see the other layouts here. Mine is called "Work is Fun" and my user name is mjjames.

"The Layout Artist Competition 2011"

If you take the time to do this I would be so grateful. I need to make it in the top 20 this week. The voting is Monday and Tuesday. Then you will be all set to vote in Round 3. Yay! In round 4, if I make it that far, only the current administrator and Design Team vote and the top 3 are chosen.

Anyway, hopefully I will make it through another round and will be moving on to round 3.
